Sri Shirdi Sai Baba - The greatest Saint of India
76Sri Shirdi Sai Baba - Life, Philosophy and Teachings
Sri Shirdi Sai Baba is one of the greatest
saints ever born in India
and has millions of devotees all over the World. Sri Shirdi Sai Baba is considered to be the
epitome of spiritual enlightenment and religious harmony. Baba strongly
believed in the uniformity of religion and was highly revered by Hindus and
Muslims alike. Some of his Hindu devotees believe that he was an incarnation of
Shiva or Dattatreya and others believed that he was a Sadguru. Sri Shirdi Sai
Baba spread the message of unity and brotherhood. He spoke the eternal truth
"Sabka Malik Ek" (One God governs all) and taught a moral code of
love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace, devotion
to God and guru. He taught them that all fate was determined by
karma and encouraged his disciples to live a good life.
He preached about the need of inner purity of mind and compassion to all. His
philosophy ingrained 'Shraddha' meaning devotion and 'Saburi' meaning patience.
In his life and teachings he tried to reconcile Hinduism and Islam. He practiced
Hindu and Muslim rituals and his teachings combined elements of both Hinduism
and Islam and tried to achieve communal harmony between these religions. Baba strongly
opposed all sorts of persecutions on religious or caste background.
No authentic information is available about the birth and the early life of Sri Sai Baba. It is said that Sri Sai Baba left Shirdi after a period of three years and came back when He was twenty years old, accompanying a marriage party. After alighting near the Khandoba temple he was greeted with the words "Ya Sai" (welcome saint) by the temple priest Mhalsapati. The name Sai stuck to him and some time later he started being known as Sai Baba. The name 'Sai Baba' is a combination of the Persian word meaning ‘holy one’ and Indian word meaing ‘father’. Baba lived a very simple life. The Hindu – Muslim influence was seen in his teachings and life. He lived in an abandoned mosque which was rechristened as ‘Dwarakamai’ which means Mother Dwarika which is the birth place of Lord Sri Krishna and begged for alms till his last day. By appearance he was a Muslim fakir and wore a tattered kafni (long robe) and wrapped a cloth around his head with a large knot. But his ears were pierced which is a Hindu sign. He had intimate knowledge of both the Hindu holy books and the Quran and celebrated both Hindu and Muslim festivals. He regularly recited Hindu and Muslim prayers and encouraged his disciples to read and follow the holy books of their own religion. He took Mahasamadhi on October 15, 1918 at 2.30pm on which the Hindu Festival ‘Dassara’ and the Muslim Festival ‘Muharram’ fell on the same day.
The most important source about Sai's life, his teachings and miracles performed by him is the Shri Sai Satcharita written in Marathi language in 1916 by Govindrao Raghunath Dabholkar.
Sri Sai Baba, I bow to you for influencing my thoughts. Jai Sai!

I dont believe in Babas, In india its very easy to cheat indian people in the name of baba or saints or gods & goddesses. He can't be a muslims and he is a hindu purely. There are people who selfish men or women posing themselves as gods or goddesses or saints or amma or baba to make fame and name.. We dont believing in partnering with Allah(Swt), The God does'nt required to be baba or amma or swami or tree or sky or earth, sun and so on.. Allah(swt) has no partners..God does not required any partners..
sai baba the greatest saint of the world. He is real immortal man and he is living in our heart.

I recently got posted to Devlali & once again i went to Shirdi to visit BABAJI there. it was after 10years that i again went there. I was shocked to see the changes there, photography being my hobby i had earlier taken snaps of Babaji standing in front but now they do not allow to carry even mobiles inside.
Very important tips:
1. DO NOT VISIT SHIRDI ON A SUNDAY/THURSDAY/ HOLIDAY.
2. IF YOU STILL CANT FIND TIME ON OTHER DAYS THAN GO THERE WITH ADVANCE BOOKING.
3. THERE ARE A PLETHORA OF SO CALLED HOTELS THERE WHO CHARGE YOU FROM 1000/- TO 2500/- FOR A PEGION HOLE ROOM ON BUSY DAYS.
4. ANYBODY PLANNING FOR A TRIP TO SHIRDI & AROUND CONTACT ME FOR OTHER TIPS ON ramesh.ghose@gmail

I am a hard core devotee of my Sai, i've felt his presence in every moment and in every phase of my life. His miracles in my life and my family as well are endless,I've visited Shirdi six times n wish to visit many more times, eventhogh the fact remains that if you wish, you can be close to the almighty from any distance because Sai is always with you...... 'Jai Sai Ram'.
I am More of a Swami Vivekananda Devotee, It was one of my Friend who gave me Sai Charitra, at first was least interested then out of Curiosity started reading it, Man its like I got the password to Shirdi Sai baba , Am seeing his miracle in every walk of my life, I would request you all to Read Sai Charitra on Daily basis and see his love conquering you.
Its Rightly said If one dally repeats Sai's names and meditates on Sai, then he will surely attain (Dharma) Virtue, (Artha) wealth, (Kama) enjoyment and (Moksha) Salvation. There is no doubt about this.
Jai Swamiji
Jai jai Sai

Well, after my recent visit to Puttaparti, the abode of Satya Saibaba in Andhra Pradesh, I have concluded that these religious places have become commercial hubs. There is less bhakti than ostentatious display of wealth in terms of grandeur, pomp and the aura that goes with the god-man. The devotees wait endlessly for that one-minute darshan and what an agonising wait when the Baba knows that bhajans are being sung for over three hours and he does not wish to come out of his sanctum sanctorum and bless the devotees. Are we not falling prey to such invisible "divine comforts" and blnd faiths?. My sincere appeal to these devotees is to look inward and seek divine blessings by staying back at home and meditate for realising the ultimate truth.
Anamika, have you ever visited Shirdi?
