Ruby is the gemstone of Leo. Ruby is representation of Sun.The sub stones or substitutes are red Agate and Garnet. Rubies if worn on left side of the body as rings, bracelets or brooches have the ability to dispel evil thoughts and reconcile disputes. Ruby is obtained from the mines and available in shades of red. This stone gives stability and removes fear. Ruby should be worn when your horoscope displays the planet Sun as your weakest planet. One can also wear it if one lacks self-confidence, self-esteem, self-respect and optimism. If suitable this gem is said to bring name and fame to the wearer.

Procedure of Wearing Ruby Gemstone

How to wear Ruby Gemstone? The Ruby should be of good quality, without flaws, should be transparent, dark red in color and should be minimum of 4 carats. It should be set in gold of 14 carats or more, and worn on the ring finger of the right hand if male and left hand if female. The ring can be worn after washing in unboiled milk and gangajal after sunrise and before 10 AM on Sunday after touching the stone on the feet of any favorite God after chanting the mantra.This mantra should be recited every Sunday during the first hour from Sunrise for 10 continuous Sundays. The main ruling-deity for ruby is Agni or Fire and the God presiding over it is Lord Shiva. The Sun God who rules Ruby has 7 horses as His vehicle. The 7 horses signify the 7 colors in the white light. The mantra of Sun is

"OM ADITYAYA VIDMAHE, SAHASRA KIRANAYA DHEEMAHE THANNO BHANU PRACHODAYAT"

and

"OM HRAAM HREEM HROUM SAHA SURYAYA NAMAHA".

This Mantra should be chanted 108 times after chanting the Ganesh Mantra .The maximum benefits of the stone is 4 years from the day it is worn. Red Garnet is the secondary gem which can be worn instead. However, It is advisable not to wear Ruby or its substitute stones along with Blue Sapphire, Diamond, Hessonite or Cat's Eye.
