Onyx Gemstone

Onyx is a very popular semiprecious stone. It is a banded variety of Chalcedony Quartz usually black or brown with white bands, but can also be found in orange, red or honey colored. Onyx is widely used as an astrological gemstone. The name of this stone seems to have come from the Greek word onux which means finger nail or claw. Onyx can be worn by those born under the Zodiac Sign of Leo and Capricorn. This stone is also associated with the 7th year of marriage. Black Onyx is the anniversary gemstone for the 10th year of marriage.

Onyx is found in India and South America.

Hello Anika I find your articles very informative because I am getting into the power of stones and I am big believer in the effects and the good ora that it provides.

I need to ask you a question.

I have been through a lot in 2008, it has been a year I wish to forget. What kind of stone would you recommend for me to represent strength, will and courage. Also yes I would love to keep the negativity and evil away as well.

I would like to wear it as a neacklace if possible.

I look forward to your response.

If you like you can check out my hub as well.

@Fajar Crystals and Gemstones are not alternatives to medical attention. Onyx can be worn on the ring finger.
