Lord Shiva is one of the most worshiped Gods in the Hindu Religion. Lord Shiva's destruction is not negative but nourishing and constructive. Lord Shiva's destruction builds and transforms life and energy for the welfare of the world. The Mahamrityunjay Mantra, which is addressed to Lord Shiva who is also referred to as Snake God, is a centuries old technique of connecting one to pure consciousness and bliss. It is Lord Shiva's moksha mantra. The Mahamrityunjay is a mantra that is said to rejuvenate, bestow health, wealth, a long life, peace, prosperity, satisfaction, immortality and contentment. Maha Mrityunjay Mantra is a Mantra to conquer death and connects us to our own inner divinity.
This Mantra which is addressed to Lord Shiva is given in the Rig Veda (7 mandala 59 chapter).

Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra - Meaning and Significance
Given below is the Mahamrityunjay Mantra(also known as Mahamoksha Mantra or Mritasanjivani mantra) of Lord Shiva and its meaning.
"Om Tryambhakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan
Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat"
Meaning : We worship the Three-eyed One who is fragrant, immensely merciful and who is the Protector of the devotees. May he liberate us from death for the sake of immortality, Even as the cucumber is severed from bondage to the creeper.
By chanting this Maha Mrityunjay Mantra, divine vibrations are generated which wards off all the negative vibrations and evil forces and create a powerful protective shield. And it is said to protect the one who chants against accidents and misfortunes of every kind. It is also said to have a powerful healing of diseases declared incurable even by the doctors. This is the Mantra to conquer death and connects us to our own inner divinity.

I am not a hindu girl. My age is approx 35 years, and my time period is not good.I am suffering from sadhe saatee. Someone said to me that if I read Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra for 1080 times, my situation will improve, but humanly it is very difficult. I can read it for only 108 times per day. Will it help me? For how long time(Days/ months/ years), I should read this mantra for 108 times? Can Sundarkand/ Hanuman Chalisa will be helpful?

Yes u can download the mantra or buy the cd by Suresh wadkar. Just by playing the mantra in the room alongside chanting it u will start seeing its effects soon. Atleast chant the manta 108 times(one mala) or listen full manta approx 150 min.
I went to Amarnath yatra this june and slipped on the glacier but somebody picked up my hand and it didnt fell in the river! All because of this mantra and lord Shiva.
Now its almost 8 months and i listen to this mantra almost daily.

Yes Krishnakanth but this is for use and not for Misuse, misusers are always destroyed first, rather than it is the Protective mantra say Kavach ...(Armor).., For your work there are other good ways like Mritsanjivani Kavacham .. Some special Shiv abhishek and Aghor Mantra of the lord shiv(I would highly recommand to never use this mantra without guru, You can go for Mritsanjivani kavacham) ... If you are unable to search or go for this kavacham, Mrityunjay Stotram is there.

My grandfather was afflicted with stroke and was quite serious. I remember my grandmother reciting the Mahamritunjaya manta every day to him. I am not sure if it was the mantra or the team of very competent doctors who were treating him, but against all odd he made a recovery and he is still alive. I was looking for the meaning of this mantra when I stumbled on your hub. Really love it. Keep it up. I would also request to you visit my hub on Amarnath Yatra.

This mantra is even known to cure even incurable diseases so you may chant the mantra with devotion.

i'm chanting mahamirtunjya mantra every day (evening time) for 11 times. is it sufficent ?
While you are chanting the Mahamaritunjay or any mantra for your any lord, a relation of a true friendship developed between you and your lord and you start talking with your lord without any fear and suspecion. After few days of chanting regularly, the relationship became more powerful and unbreakable because Lord never harm you in any way and your faith starts grwoing on your Lord. And day after day by chanting, this relationship become more strong and you have developed a more strong faith on your lord. When you are in trouble or in any problem, you start remebering your true friend Lord and start telling everything without any fear and withour hiding any thing from your lord. At this stage, a power starts working in your self to examine yourself and our deeds and your mind and your conscious starts guding you the right path or the solution of the problem, you are facing and also it give courage to you to combat with this problem. So in tatality, your true friendship with your lord and your strong faith in your lord take you at a point and you get the solution of your problem

I recite this mantra almost daily; I find it most peaceful. When chanting with deep concentration, it almost invokes an out of body experience for me.

Indeed - many of the Swami's chant this mantra before departing the ashram when leaving for a trip to be protected.
Is there some really good mantra for the long life of PARENTS?
(I mean specifically PARENTS). I understand that Mahamrityunjaya Mantra helps the person who recites it. But what if one wants to recite this for someone else. My parents and I stay in different countries and I want to be able to do this from here for them. Please respond.

I would share with you the power of this mantra. I have already met with an accident fr about 8 times and thank god nothing happen to me. even the scar on my face was told by a doctor would take about 6 months to heal but trust me by chanting the mantra,it took about a month.
oh yes you can chant this mantra while cooking, your food taste better.

You may go and do a 3 days special Puja at Trambakeshwar , one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Bhagwan Shankar.
1) Nagbali Puja
2) Narayan Bali Puja
3) Kalasarpa Poojan (Rahu Ketu Poojan) along with sapindi Shraddh
After Puja you have to follow the instructions and restrictions given by the Purohit. You can do the Puja under Purohit Promod Joshi who is an expert in this sort of Poojas. The fees is Rs 5000

You can keep a Mahamrityunjay Yantra at your Puja Room and can play the CD of this mantra daily if he is unable to chant it. When you chant it your son can sit with you.

According to my experience only one super divinemantra is only mahamartunjay mantra which can provide you cause and fact risult. i have great devotion in this mantra. because i am working in abroad since last twalve years but i make reguler routine for chanting of this mantra.there is dramatic change in my carrier . i can not even think which i get due to blessing of lord shiva.
i think present time which is always and every time full with fear of any mishappening; accident health dieases only one mantra which can protact you is only mahamratunjaya mantra. this mantra is only one remady to make life spritual safe and power full. i think in all indian schools this mantra should be teach to every student.

Swami Shivananda (the founder of Divine Life Society, Rishikesh) used to give a lot of imortance to the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. He has advised innumerable sick people to chant this mantra with faith to get reid of their illness. He used to say this Mantra removes fear of death.

Maha Mrityunjay Mantra is also used for healing when a person is suffering from sever illness or on the death bed!
This Mantra helps in dealing with fear of death as well as keeps the person at the level of real inner courrage. So that the power of the Mantra heal the person.
Some time it helps to release the soul from karmas and the person becomes peaceful!
Mahamrityunjay Mantra is used while charging the Rudraksha Beads or on the Puja performed before wearing the Rudraksha. I guess you forgot to add it.
