75The Story of Lord Narasimha – The Avatar of Lord Vishnu
Lord Narasimha is the fourth incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu who incarnated to kill Demon Hiranyakashyap and to save his devotee Prahlada. According to Bhagavata Purana Lord Maha Vishnu in his avatar as Varaha killed Demon Hiranyaksha. The Demon Hiranyakshas brother Hiranyakashipu angered by this gained mystical powers from Brahma by undergoing many years of austerity and penance so that he could take revenge on Vishnu. Pleased by this Lord Brahma gives him the boon that Hiranyakashipu could not be killed by human, God or animal or during the day or night or on the threshold of a courtyard or on the earth or space or using any weapon. So after getting a boon Hiranyakashyap returned to his kingdom and began to trouble the Gods. He also declared himself as God and ordered all to worship him. When his son Prahlada told him that Vishnu is the only God and cannot accept his father as God he tried to kill Prahlada. The servants threw Prahlada from top of mountains and in to the sea but could not kill him. Snakes and fire also could not harm him.
The Demon asked Prahlada that is Vishnu present in this pillar and took his mace to hit the pillar. Lord Vishnu emerged from the pillar in his incarnation as Lord Narasimha with the head of a Lion and body of the man. The Demon King hit Narasimha with his mace but Narasimha brushed it aside swiftly. It was twilight and Narasimha caught hold of the demon Hiranyakashipu. He sat on the threshold of the court room, placed the body of the demon on his thighs, and pierced his nails into the body of the demon and broke open his stomach killing him.

The Nine forms of Lord Narasimha (Nava Narasimha)
It is believed that Lord Narasimha protects his followers when they are in extreme danger. He also saved Adi Sankara from being sacrificed to the goddess Kali by a Kapalika. As a gesture of gratitude Adi Sankara composed the Laksmi -Narasimha stotra in praise to Lord Narasimha.
Lord Narsimha is recognized in the scriptures by a variety of forms. He is said to have more than 74 forms on the basis of his different postures or weapons. Out of this 9 forms are the most popular. The most popular out of the nine is his Lakshmi Narasimha form. The nine forms of Narasimha (Nava Narasimha) are

@ Vijay, sure.... but before starting,Narsinha sadhana, you have to chant Narsinha Dhyaan mantra for 108 times daily for 21 days continously. As after it, one will be capable to indulge in this sadhana. Do this for 21 days & then i will give you the above procedure.

I strongly agree.No god will kill another god.So, lord marasimha was not killed but we humans have misinterpreted whatever was written regarding this.Its a pity we are still debating who killed who when we all know that lord narasimha is very much present amongst us today.Please read about miracles occuring in mayapur.If anyone has witnessed such a miracle personally please share it with us.
Lord narasimha was not killed by any one , the story of sharabha is fake as it might been created by some people and i have also read that sharabha was also killed by One Durga avatar thats why its named as Simhika like this list goes on . There are no proof of sharabha the bhagavata tells that the anger of lord narasimhaswamy was calmed by only pure bhakti of maharaj prahlad.

Lord Narsimha was not killed. Gods can never be killed. I have proofs that He was not killed. Lord Shiva fought with Lord Narsimha.

Padmapadar Disciple of Sankaracharyar was ardent devotee of Narasimha moorthi, read asmuch of AHOBILAM, read how Narada handled the issues, make database of Narasimha moorthi temples.remeber Prahladar, Druvadevan, Prachethassukal etc.Help children enough help weak that is enough.

Prayer to lord NARASIMA has kept me alive till date.I am told that he is still mediating some where in Badranath.In fact I have also been told that in the river folwing besides Bradrinath temple Lord Narasima is sitting on a shila and meditiating.
do not know much but pray to lord for his guidance and benificial light.
only the true devotion of BHAKTHA PRAHLADHA could calm down narasimha deva.rest of things are not that much authentic.

There are proofs that Lord Narasimha was not pacified even by Lord shiva during sharabeswara incarnation. There is a hymn praised by Lord shiva called Mantra Raaja Pada stotram on Lord Narasimha to pacify the Ugra (Anger of Lord Narasimha ). Lord Shiva / Lord Brahma along with this hymn took prahlada infront of Lord Narasimha to Pacify him. ( On seeing Prahlada, Lord Narasimha was instantly calmed - Since, There is a nyaayam (Sastra) that, ie., A Lion will be more happy to see his Cub than any other animal ). In this way only The Lord was pacified. - This proof was available in ' Ahirbudhya Samhita' by Lord shiva available in Brahmanda Purana. So, Lord Narasimha is invincible than any other God / Goddess. He is THE supreme God of all Gods / Goddesses.
While there are different views on the Avtars of the Supreme Lord - Vishnu, Narasimha is the one that is the most powerful as also the sweetest. Of course, for me Rama is the Avtar I revere the most. Keep on the good work

Due to the nature of Narasimha's form (divine anger), it is considered essential that worship is given with a very high level of attention compared to other deities. In many temples only life-long celibates (brahmacarya) will be able to have the chance to serve as priests to perform the daily puja. Forms where Narasimha appears sitting in a yogic posture, or with the goddess Lakshmi are the exception to this rule, as Narasimha is taken as being more relaxed in both of these instances compared to his form when first emerging from the pillar to protect Prahlada.
