Adding Google +1 Feature to Blogger Blogs
If you are wondering how to add the Google +1 Button on your Blogger Blog, this Hub might help you. If you own a Blogger Blog there is not much you need to do to add the +1 Google button. Google has simplified the process for Blogger users.
Before we talk of implementing the +1 Button on Blogger, let me briefly explain what it means and the possible benefits of adding this feature to your Blog. In March 2011, Google introduced the +1 feature for Google search results enabling the users to promote a site or blog by clicking on the button. With this feature a person can recommend a search result that he/she liked to the others in the network. Whenever your friends or those in your network searches Google result that you had recommended with +1, they will see the +1 button with your name. In other words, by Clicking +1 to publicly you give your stamp of approval. This works similar to or probably better than the FaceBook like feature. Now it is possible to add this feature to Websites and Blogs directly enabling the visitors to recommend your content to others. This means that if you can get a lot of +1’s from visitors, your web traffic could increase many fold. This is also an indicator of the reputation and trustworthiness of a Site. Here is a youtube video explaining about the +1 button.
Introducing Google +1 Button
How to add Google +1 Button below Blog Post on Blogger Blog
First of all go to your Blogger Dashboard and click on Design. Now click on the edit option on Blog Posts. A new Page opens up. Click on the Show Share buttons option and save the Page. Now you would see a Google +1 Button also along with the other share option like twitter, facebook and buzz. Check out the picture if you are still not able to figure it out.
Code for +1 Button
Code 1
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js"></script>
Code 2
<div style='float:left'><g:plusone expr:href='data:post.url' size='medium'/></div>
There are options available on buttons like small, medium and tall. Use it as per your choice when using the second code.
How to add Google +1 Button above the Blog Post on Blogspot Blog
However this above said method may not work on all Blogs. If you are unable to implement this feature by the above given method, then try adding the +1 code to the Blogspot template. By using this method you can put the button above or below the post as per your choice. For this first go the Blogger Dashboard and click on the Design Option. Once the page opens click on the Edit HTML Option. Click on the Expand Widget Templates. To be on the safe side take a backup of your Blog. Now use CtrlF and look for </body> in the template and add code1 just above it.
Once done use the CtrlF and look for data:post.body in the Blog Template and add code2 above or below it depending where you want your button on the Blog Post. Now save your Blog Template and go check your Blog to see the Google +1 Button on your BlogSpot Blog.
